Making and shaking
We use this fine fine month to finish a lot of new songs and prepare for the february shows with Malpractise - it´s gonna be...! Today I recorded a lot of vocals and playing the recorder! I never thought I would rediscover this dubious instrument, but I guess there is a time for every instrument, and the beginning of 2011 is the beginning of the year of the flutes.
Exploding in Explosions
So here is a little bit more about the shows coming up:
Can you hear images? Can you see sounds? In our brand new collaboration with Jens Mønsted, you can! Together, we have developed a synaesthetic concept: With a construction that we call the video synth, Jens is playing motion pictures, full of sound. Of the sound that the world makes, of the sound of the things - things like a machine's robot arm turning rhythmically along with the drums in "Heavy Industry". We are erasing the borderline between what the eyes see and what the ears hear! You hear with your eyes and see with your ears... And, as earlier mentioned, Karen Segall has designed and decorated new costumes for us that complete this new visual concept.
We only play two shows with this setup, in Aarhus the 22th of October (øst for paradis kl 23.50) and Copenhagen the 23th of October (musikcafeen kl 21.00 with Roxy Joules) - so come, if you want to see how it sounds!
Introducing Mads Waehrens
Introducing the latest member of the Difference Family - by Mads Waehrens - you can stream it in the shop. He is a singer and plays a lot of different instruments. In 2008 he released his first album called Flodens hemmelighed - with poems by Henrik Nordbrandt. Right now his finishing his next album, this time with words by the young danish poet Bjoern Friis Thomsen - all the best of luck to them - and thank you for the very different difference.

Today Today We Are Heavy Industry
We feel that it is time to tell you that we are working on gathering all the new Marybell songs, to make a whole bunch of songs coming out at the same time (in the beginning of next year). In the old days it was called an album. That´s why were a little distant the last couple of months. Soon we will play some shows and release some songs together, as a real band is supposed to do! But untill then you can listen to one of the new songs called Heavy Industry right here, right now!

DL10 solo, alone in a dark field
So this Saturday we ended up on a field outside Aarhus home of a big land art project called Love Alley hosted by Marianne Jørgensen. We are making a sound vulcano out there, and for the first time this saturday it started roaring... Very late, and very cold I performed DL10 alone, right on the same field as the explosions video behind me is recorded. I don´t really enjoy playing alone, and I´m a bit concerned about using the loop-station too much because I think it very fast can turn in to a "look what my gear can do" kind-of-thing, and not be about the music - but anyway I think this song was the only one (besides Good Old Germany) capable of this transformation.

Introducing Morten in danish

As I mentioned before the danish poet Morten Søndergaard is writing almost all the lyrics for the new Marybell songs - including Difference. He usually writes everything in danish, but with Marybell he writes in english, so we gave him the challange to read the poem out loud in danish - he did (with a little help from Google translate) and here you go! perfect for a sunday evening.
Gaffa feature
In the danish magazine Gaffa they have a section about education - this month the feature article is about me...hmm...and what I do...hmm...I thought a lot about saying yes, because it could very easily become about girl vs. nerdy mans world, or artist that allways knew what she wanted...but I tried to tell about the education and the perspectives of interactive sound, and I guess it turned out pretty ok.
>silence before…
>I know it´s been a while since I have been active here, but boy have I been doing a lot of exiting marybell stuff. Our first single coming up is called Difference and is finally finished after a long journey, on the road and sometimes the offroad...
It feels like it´s a whole new continent we set foot on - more clear, simple, somehow oriental, orchestral and free - eventhough the process sometimes feels very unclear and complex and the practical arrangements as well:
Soon I will give you a prelisten and we work on an exiting new way of releasing it. But much more about that later.
Tomorrow we have the honour of supporting Gus Gus at Train i Aarhus, and next week we go to Sønderborg and Copenhagen to play the last shows for a while - we need time to record...mix...and so on!
pppphewwww
>MY SISTER!
>Today my sisters awsome blog, read by hundreds around the world every day turns
years old. She celebrates by handing out a gift to a lucky reader. She simply has the best eye for the visual and tangible and combining the two in wonderful art. She made up the name Marybell Katastrophy, the logo, the scenography and most of the artwork throughout the years. Here is a little view of some of it:
